What, no frosts?

What, no frosts?

This last winter, from a weather point-of-view, has been non existent. Normally temperatures drop to between -12 and -15 for at least brief periods and even lighter winters are frosty affairs. This year we had two heavy frosts, three or four light ones... and that's it.

Consequently, nature is doing everything early, some species as much as a month. The Military orchids have been in bloom for a month already and even the Orchis anthropophora started shooting a couple of weeks ago. Something which doesn't usually happen until May. With no extreme cold to kill anything off it is going to be very interesting to see how the balance of things pans out over the year.
