An unlucky lizard

An unlucky lizard

I got a call yesterday, would I come and check out a lizard that looked like its innards were falling out. I arrived to find a Lacerta viridis that must have been sleeping in a wall when someone decided to do some DIY. What looked like "innards falling out" was cavity foam insulation. The poor thing had managed to get away but its forelegs are glued like rock to its sides.

I brought it home and left it overnight with the idea of attempting to cut it free early in the morning before it had warmed up. Well, nothing budged it. I can't use solvents as they are too toxic. A scalpel wouldn't cut through and scissors didn't have the angle without risking permanent damage.  So with no real alternative, other than letting it go to take its chances, I fitted out a tank and will feed it until it moults. Hopefully that won't be too long!
